441 Auction on Ebay
By conquest | December 14, 2010 at 01:56 PM EST | No Comments

There is a 1983 Conquest II with Dash-10 engines on ebay at the moment. Always a great spot to watch aircraft sales. While rarely a plane will trade hands through this media, it has had some proven results. Good Luck with bidding!

Conquest Safety
By conquest | July 09, 2010 at 01:36 PM EDT | No Comments

2010 year to date there have been zero reported accidents in both 425 and 441 airframes with the NTSB. I learned of a new Conquest training school, Aviation Training Management (ATM) 772-778-7815. If anyone has other suggestions of 425/441 training please let us know and I'd be glad to work it into the resources page.

441 Performance Question and Answers
By conquest | May 12, 2010 at 02:24 PM EDT | No Comments

We had a question from a blogger "captbilly" and I passed the info around and received a good response from an experienced 441 pilot.

First I will post the questions, followed by the response.

captbilly | February 13, 2010 at 07:42 PM EST

"I am a bit confused about the range and other performance data listed for the 441. I see the owners of Commander turboprops claiming that a Dash 10 Commander is the most efficient turboprop aircraft. With almost identical fuel capacity to the Conquest 441 they show the range of the Commander (1000, 900 and other Dash 10 converted Commanders with the long range fuel system, 474 gallons) at about 2100nm and that of the Conquest 441 at something in the range of 1400nm. Even the data on this site seems to concure that the range of a 441 is on the order of 1400 nm. But at the same time I see published range data for the 441 showing a theoretical range of almost 2300nm at FL350 and 250knots (and that is with the Dash 8 engines). In addition I have spoken to several 441 owners who regularly fly nonstop from California to New York or New Jersey. Of course the winds do favor west to east flights (especially in winter) but it is still hard to imagine flying an aircraft with a range of 1400nm from coast to coast.

What is the lowdown on 441 range? Can a full fuel (obviously otherwise lightly loaded) 441 really go 2300nm when flown at best range speed at high altitude (RVSM required of course)? I am looking at buying a 441 right now but I do want to be able to make nonstop coast to coast flights."

Typical range is 6.5 hours with a average speed of 300kts or 1950nm, using 400lbs per hour cruise, you could get it back to 350 and still do a fairly good ground speed east bound.  This is with no wind.
For instance I did a flight plan from LGB to FFL today, FL350, flight time today would be 4 hr 9 minutes.
LGB to EWR would be 6hrs 52 minutes which would leave you a little short on fuel (about 280 lbs remaining) we always like to land with at least 600lbs. However with a few ATC short cuts you will make it easy.

And to anyone looking to buy a 441, Conquest Owners Member Ray Houston has one for sale. I'm sure he'd be willing to discuss his aircraft with persons interested.

441-0218 is a very nice 441 with SIDS completed 4/2010 WS
Looking for new home - if you know someone with interest - would be willing to make small donation to organization.

Kind regards
Ray Houston

441 available for MS Flight Sim!
By conquest | May 11, 2010 at 01:31 PM EDT | No Comments

$24.95 USD available from www.Flight1.com

I think it would be interesting to test the limits of what this cyber aircraft could do, the cockpit looks very familiar, and if the performance model is similar to actual it may be a good way to practice instrument flying and following checklists.... but if you're like me, you'll probably be trying to land and take off from spots you'd never attempt in real life. But what could it hurt to set it at max gross, shut down one engine and fly it in known icing virtually? Below are some screen shots. If you are the owner of N441HC please check in with us and let us know the story on how this came about.

Conquest's fly aid into Haiti
By conquest | April 06, 2010 at 04:45 PM EDT | No Comments

By Chelsey Levingston, Dayton Daily News Contributing Writer 2:37 PM Thursday, April 1, 2010

More than two months after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Jan. 12, a local partnership has learned its aid efforts helped more than 2,000 Haitians.

The Connor Group, a real estate company, along with Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton Children’s Hospital and Lifeline Christian Mission of Columbus, delivered 900 pounds of medical supplies targeted to children, said Larry Connor, Connor Group managing partner.

MVH and Dayton Children’s donated medical supplies, Lifeline missionaries distributed supplies in Haiti, and Connor Group provided transportation with its co-owned corporate plane, said Connor.

The medical aid filled the plane, he said. Feedback from Lifeline confirmed the medical supplies reached some 2,000 people.

“I’m not sure we made a difference. We provided transportation to the people who make a difference,” said Connor.

“We’re just happy we had the ability to provide the transportation there and back,” he added.

Lifeline contacted The Connor Group two days after the earthquake through Wright Brothers Airport where Connor Group’s plane is based, said Brett Hunter, Connor Group chief pilot. Lifeline wanted The Conner Group to transport missionaries to Haiti.

Following two flights to get Lifeline missionaries to Haiti, a third trip was made Feb. 5 to deliver the medical supplies, said Hunter and Connor.

“I find it much more rewarding than writing a check or throwing money at people,” said Hunter, who flies a Cessna Conquest for Connor Group.

Many corporate planes were part of aid efforts, Hunter said, adding the biggest challenge was logistics because the trips took 23 hours, air and ramp spaces were full and there was no fuel in Haiti.

The plane fueled up in Provodenciales of Caicos Islands.

Connor said Mary Boosalis, MVH president and CEO was contacted about donations.

MVH donated $3,500 worth of medical supplies to treat wounds and another $1,980 worth of medication to aid victims, according to a statement.

Also two nurses, a respiratory therapist and several doctors have traveled to Haiti to care for victims after the earthquake.

Contributing these aid efforts are part of MVH’s mission as healers.

Connor Group started in Dayton and has $1.3 billion assets in six markets. Lifeline has been in Haiti for more than 25 years, according to lifeline.org.

2010 425/441 Safety Report
By conquest | April 06, 2010 at 04:22 PM EDT | No Comments

No Accidents reported for 425's and 441's fleet wide for 2010. Now what went somewhat unadvertised was that the FAA stopped mailing owners AD's that come out on thier airplanes in March of 2010. Don't be caught surprised at your next inspection.

Most recent 441 AD is 2009-05-05 and is for Primary Flight Displays.

Most recent 425 AD is 2005-20-25 for the Circuit Breaker Switches.

Conquest Sales Data-- November 2009
By conquest | November 17, 2009 at 01:49 PM EST | No Comments

Currently there are 42 Conquest I's for sale worldwide with 208 in the active fleet. There are 37 Conquest II's for sale with 313 in the active fleet.

In 2009 there were only 9 425's reported sold.

2008 saw 23 change hands.

2007 had 44 aircraft bought and sold.

For the 441 Airframe:

2009 year to date 18 aircraft sold

2008 had 41 aircraft sold

2007 was 56 aircraft bought and sold.

Increased — 75
Decreased — 114
Stable — 399

Socata fared better in this reporting period. Sales demonstrated that values were better than previously reported; therefore, stronger values appear in the new release of Bluebook. Turboprop ag planes continue to demonstrate improved values with limited inventories available in the world market. The Piaggio was up 9 percent from the previous quarter as well.

So what does all this tell us to do? The DOW and NASDAQ are on the rise, U.S. gross domestic product is rising, aircraft values have neutralized at 0% change for the Conquest, there is a good ammount of airplanes on the market to choose from... In short now is a good time to buy a Conquest if you are on the fence about it. The Conquest is a unique aircraft that nothing yet can touch in terms of speed, fuel economy, and passenger payload ability. These factors will continue to have a good solid airplane continue to increase in value. Remember when sales volume peaked in 2007 there were 441 Conquests listed with prices of $2.1 million dollars. Today is a great time to buy an airplane.

Starter not starting ?

brushes

At one point or another we've all had our airplanes let us down. Here's a secret for all Conquest Owners. Send your Starter-Generator out to the pro's at Niacc-Avitech. They do nothing by repair, overhaul, exchange starter genertors. Highly likely your maintenance shop already sends them here. I recently had one go out and thier customer service is very good, always helpful, and product turn around time is fast. They even do work that other repair shops send out like re-winding the armatures.

Share your thoughts about the SID
By conquest | August 20, 2009 at 06:17 PM EDT | No Comments

We had a reader write in and give his thoughts on the SID, what are yours? Feel free to post in the message board or comment here in the blog.

I have done three Conquest SID\'s to date....I have been fortunate to have clean airplanes and got off the hook for less than most! When I flew them away did I feel safer?? No....I felt the planes had been excessively torn apart and no safer(if you have seen one in the middle of the process you\'ll understand this statement)...Is it difficult to sell one in this market without the SID being done? definitely(so much misinformation)....I feel the SID gave one of the best Turbo Props out there a Giant \"Black Eye\" which will take time to heal...even in this current market it damaged the value of the aiplane heavily...after studying/listening to the whole SID program I am conviced it is not necessary FAA\'s \"Legal Interpretation\" convinced me..... The FAA InFO document (InFOmmercial..excuse the pun... after three SIDS I feel justfied to say this after wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of wasted time)threw up a heavy smoke screen and after talking with Rusty Jones I felt maybe it is necessary....but after more study I kept going back to the \"Legal Interpretation\" reading the opening paragraph which at the bottom states no one can not mandate this....only the FAA and that is through the proper APA process....I look forward to seeing more owner/operator/shop opinions......

The Reims F406 Caravan II
By conquest | August 20, 2009 at 01:15 PM EDT | No Comments

F406

A Rare sight in America, but quite common in Europe is the Reims F406 Caravan II. Originaly designed by Cessna in co-operation with Reims of France, it was based on the 404 Titan airframe, as was the Conquest II. What makes the 406 differnt is it uses PT-6 engines instead of 331 engines. Also the 406 is non-pressurized. Where these planes became popular was short haul passenger service, cargo, and law enforcement. They were rugged and built to be working airplanes. Lack of pressurization lightened the airframe for more payload, and the addition of a belly cargo pod for increased baggage and cargo revenue. The Reims Aircraft company of France still produces this model today. It came into service on the heals of the 441 in 1983 but never matched the 441's speed, range, or fuel economy. So why did Cessna drop the 441 in 1984? I really don't have an exact answer. Economic recession, Citation Jets were the hot new Cessna product, unemployment was up around 10%, Beechcraft King Air sales were good. In a way it was Cessna bowing to Beechcrafts turboprop success, and putting a focus on Jet aircraft virtually eliminating competing turboprops from thier lineup.

SID or not to SID
By conquest | August 14, 2009 at 03:06 PM EDT | 1 comment

So by now you know what the SID is all about. Or rather thought you knew what the SID was all about. Amidst the questions and wondering we think according to the FAA, that Cessna cannot force this inspection as it is not an APPROVED maintenance program. What areyour thoughts? According to Yingling on thier website...

"To date Yingling Aviation has successfully completed several of the new Phase Inspections on Both 425' s and 441' s with very encouraging results to report. No problematic trends or areas of particular concern have been discovered during our inspections of the 425 or 441 models and overall the final reports are very, very good! Owners can be confident the Conquest I and Conquest II have aged very gracefully and indications that the models will continue to provide the outstanding service for many more years to come."

So there is no "smoking gun" that is causing our planes to fall out of the sky. (only one plane ever has to our knowledge)

What is your opinion about the necessity of the SID?

Do you feel that taking apart the airplane for a SID can cause problems down the road?
